The land of Egypt is built around the Nile Valley which runs down its length from the Mediterranean Sea to the Nubian Desert. Cairo, the capital, is a bustling energetic city and where you will find the marvellous Egyptian Museum and the treasures of Tutankhamun! The Giza Plateau with its gigantic ancient pyramids and mighty Sphinx is only a short distance away. Experiencing Egypt is not complete without travelling to Upper Egypt and the Nile town of Luxor, with its splendid temples of Karnak and Luxor and on the ‘West Bank' - the necropolis of ancient rulers. Further south is picturesque Aswan located at the head of the cataracts of the Nile. Ideally a leisurely paced Nile cruise is the way to take in the sights between these towns.
