Malta

A surprising gem in the Mediterranean, Malta is made up of seven islands of which only three are inhabited – Malta, Gozo and Comino. Its history dates back thousands of years with evidence of the existence of prehistoric civilisations.

Malta offers a range of different standards of accommodation and getting around is easy with a very good and inexpensive public bus system that services major attractions. Regular ferries link Malta and Gozo and take about 20minutes each way. Boat services between each island and Comino are also available. It is fun to take a traditional Maltese ‘dghajsa' taxi boat whilst in Grand Harbour on Malta.

On Gozo be sure to visit Ggantija – a collection of the oldest freestanding Megalithic temples in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gozo's sandy beaches and unspoilt bays are inviting. Comino is very small and idyllic with a marvellous ‘Blue Lagoon” – bright turquoise water to entice you!
